How Do You Lose Heat Through Windows?

Windows can be one of the main areas of heat loss in a house, especially when they are old, poorly insulated or incorrectly installed. Even a high-quality window can cause significant heat loss if the installation is not done properly.

Heat can be lost through the glazing, frame and the area around the window installation. Glazing with poor thermal performance allows heat to transfer more quickly to the outside.

Another common problem is air leakage. Damaged seals, incorrect window adjustment or poorly sealed gaps between the frame and wall can allow cold air to enter the house.

Installation is just as important as choosing the right window. If the space between the frame and wall is not properly sealed and protected, it can lead to heat loss, condensation and moisture around the installation area.

To reduce heat loss, choose windows with suitable thermal performance, check the seals and adjustment, and make sure the installation is carried out correctly.

A good window is not simply a high-quality frame and glazing. The entire system, including the installation, needs to be properly designed and installed.
