Ceramic Brick or Cotileț? Which Is Better for a House?

Choosing between ceramic brick and cotileț depends on the budget, project, insulation requirements and construction conditions. Both materials can be used for house walls, but they have different characteristics.

Ceramic brick is strong and durable and has good thermal mass. Modern ceramic blocks can also provide good thermal insulation, especially when combined with a properly designed insulation system.

Cotileț is commonly used in construction in Moldova. It is relatively easy to work with and can be a cost-effective option, although its properties and quality can vary depending on the type and manufacturer.

In terms of strength, both materials can be suitable for a house when selected and used according to the project. The material should not be chosen based only on its price per piece or cubic metre.

Insulation is also an important factor. Even when the wall material has good thermal properties, the performance of the entire wall depends on its thickness, mortar, thermal bridges and insulation system.

Therefore, the choice between ceramic brick and cotileț should be based on the project, site conditions, house structure, budget and desired energy efficiency. What matters most is not only the material itself, but also proper design and installation.
